{"id":5975,"date":"2020-12-31T21:52:33","date_gmt":"2020-12-31T21:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bayareacrisisnursery.org\/?p=5975"},"modified":"2020-12-31T21:52:39","modified_gmt":"2020-12-31T21:52:39","slug":"covid-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bayareacrisisnursery.org\/es\/2020\/12\/31\/covid-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"El a\u00f1o m\u00e1s humilde de mi vida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>En mis 25 a\u00f1os de trabajo con ni\u00f1os y familias, hay momentos que siempre me humillar\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Una madre que busca a alguien para que le d\u00e9 a su hijo una cama caliente y una comida caliente cuando ella no puede, es una lecci\u00f3n de humildad.<\/li>\n<li>Un trabajador social llama porque una madre soltera tuvo un accidente automovil\u00edstico y tendr\u00e1 que ser hospitalizada. Es dejar a sus hijos con nosotros, completos extra\u00f1os o en un hogar de acogida, es una lecci\u00f3n de humildad.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/p>\n\nTrabaj\u00e9 en servicios sociales durante la Gran Recesi\u00f3n a fines de la d\u00e9cada de 2000. Fui testigo por primera vez de familias de clase media pidiendo ayuda. Ten\u00edan el Sue\u00f1o Americano: eran due\u00f1os de una casa, dos autos, estaban casados, tal vez sus hijos iban a una linda escuela privada. Y en lo que pareci\u00f3 un momento, todo se fue. Ambos padres fueron despedidos. El valor de su casa hab\u00eda disminuido tanto que no ten\u00eda sentido intentar salvarlo. Estaban tratando de navegar por un sistema de bienestar que estaba sobrecargado con nuevos solicitantes. No entend\u00edan por qu\u00e9 se les rechazaba por los servicios que necesitaban y merec\u00edan. Esos a\u00f1os fueron humillantes.<\/p>\nPero de todos ellos, 2020 es el que m\u00e1s me ha impactado, tanto personal como profesionalmente. A nivel personal, extra\u00f1o a mi familia y amigos. Yo tambi\u00e9n extra\u00f1o la forma despreocupada con la que sol\u00eda moverme por la sociedad y pasar tiempo con la gente. Extra\u00f1o no tener miedo por m\u00ed, mi familia, mis amigos y, sobre todo, los ni\u00f1os que se quedan y el personal que trabaja en la guarder\u00eda.<\/p>\n\nNada podr\u00eda haberme preparado para liderar una organizaci\u00f3n durante una pandemia. El bloqueo r\u00e1pido. La r\u00e1pida respuesta. Crear planes para mantener a nuestros ni\u00f1os y al personal a salvo de la exposici\u00f3n mientras permanecen abiertos. Las revisiones r\u00e1pidas a medida que sal\u00eda nueva informaci\u00f3n de los CDC y de expertos m\u00e9dicos.<\/p>\n\nLas llamadas de la comunidad. Los padres no pueden encontrar pa\u00f1ales, comida, f\u00f3rmula, ropa de beb\u00e9, art\u00edculos de tocador. Todo se estaba cerrando o vendiendo, y su \u00faltima esperanza \u00e9ramos nosotros. El r\u00e1pido cambio de administrar un refugio de emergencia a una despensa de alimentos y pa\u00f1ales. En una semana, ahora estamos entregando miles de pa\u00f1ales y cientos de bolsas de comida a las familias.<\/p>\n\nLa esperanza que trajo luz a nuestro mundo a fines del verano cuando disminuyeron los n\u00fameros de COVID. \u00bfPodr\u00eda esto casi terminar? \u00bfEstamos casi fuera de peligro? \u00bfPodemos salir todos ahora y jugar en el mundo de forma segura? No. Una vez m\u00e1s estamos resguardados en el lugar. Una vez m\u00e1s, las familias quedaron sin trabajo y temerosas de c\u00f3mo van a pagar el alquiler, poner comida en la mesa y limpiar los pa\u00f1ales de su beb\u00e9.<\/p>\n\nHa sido un a\u00f1o. Las historias de lo que nuestros padres e hijos est\u00e1n pasando y por lo que sobreviven me hacen sentir humilde todos los d\u00edas. Me da mucha humildad que nos llamen para pedir ayuda y conf\u00eden en que estaremos aqu\u00ed para ellos.<\/p>\n\nTambi\u00e9n he estado agradecido. Un domingo por la tarde, me sent\u00e9 en nuestra oficina esperando que los donantes entregaran los regalos navide\u00f1os para las familias. Uno por uno, aparecieron con los regalos m\u00e1s incre\u00edbles. Y regalos para los padres tambi\u00e9n: batas, ropa, tarjetas de regalo y lo que debe haber estado en la lista de todos, un orador blue tooth. Llor\u00e9. Uno a uno llor\u00e9 un poco, muy agradecido por el apoyo de todos y las sonrisas que le daban a las familias que recibieron su generosidad.<\/p>\n\nA todos ustedes que han dado pa\u00f1ales, juguetes, ropa, tarjetas de regalo y las miles de donaciones que hemos recibido en bienes de ustedes este a\u00f1o, \u00a1no puedo agradecerles lo suficiente! Has hecho una diferencia en la vida de las personas.<\/p>\n\nLa desaceleraci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica ha afectado a las peque\u00f1as empresas y, s\u00ed, a las organizaciones sin fines de lucro como Bay Area Crisis Nursery. Si bien hemos visto un aumento en las donaciones de bienes, hemos visto una disminuci\u00f3n en las donaciones individuales. Y entendemos por qu\u00e9. Ahora estamos ayudando a algunos de nuestros donantes anteriores como clientes. Continuaremos sirviendo a todos los que acudan a nosotros y necesiten apoyo.
