The Bay Area Crisis Nursery (BACN) has been a beacon of hope for families in need since 1981. We are dedicated to ensuring children are safe, healthy, and able to thrive both emotionally and physically, providing compassionate care and critical support to families in crisis.
Our mission is simple, yet powerful—to prevent child abuse and neglect by offering supportive services to families in times of need. We are committed to creating a warm, safe, and loving environment where children can receive short-term care while their parents focus on resolving challenging circumstances.
At BACN, all of our services are free, voluntary, and confidential. We offer a unique program in the San Francisco Bay Area, providing short-term residential care and emergency childcare services. These services give parents the peace of mind to address crises, knowing their children are in a safe and nurturing place. By providing this care, we proactively intervene before abuse can occur, ensuring that children are given the best possible chance to thrive, even in the face of adversity.
The families who turn to BACN often face difficult situations such as poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, medical and mental health crises, or sudden childcare loss. For many of these families, paying for quality childcare or overnight care simply isn't an option. Our services are a lifeline, offering these brave parents the opportunity to regain their footing and seek out the resources they need to heal.
In addition to our core services, BACN offers a Respite Care program, which provides monthly respite support to families, helping to reduce stress and allowing parents the time they need to focus on long-term solutions for their families' wellbeing.
We are proud to be the only crisis nursery in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we are honored to be a part of the support system that helps families rebuild and move forward. At BACN, we believe every child deserves a chance to grow up safe, loved, and supported, and we are here to make that possible.
