The Bay Area Crisis Nursery helps families who need immediate childcare by providing access to quality childcare. The Nursery offers free Emergency Childcare Services to children ages birth through 5 daily from 7 am – 7 pm. We are open 365 days a year, including holidays. Children can stay with us for the full day or just a few hours. Families can receive up to 30 days of childcare within a 6-month period and 60 days in a year.

Emergency Childcare Services are available to families who are experiencing a crisis. These can include starting a new job, losing a childcare provider, a childcare program closure during a holiday or the summer, divorce, domestic violence, medical needs, and needing support during a stressful time. We will provide everything they will need during the day including food, formula, diapers, and extra clothing. Parents don't need to worry about packing a diaper bag or sending children with food.

We know that finding affordable childcare in the Bay Area is difficult. Parents and guardians who can’t find childcare are forced to choose between taking a job offer, continuing their education, and providing for their child. We strive to help families achieve self-sufficiency by aiding them in meeting their childcare needs, including providing free childcare and helping families develop long-term childcare plans. Thanks to several partnerships and private funding, the Nursery can offer free emergency childcare for low-income families. Funding is provided in part by Contra Costa County, the City of Antioch, the City of Concord, and the Keller Canyon Mitigation Fund.
