children in Contra Costa County are food insecure.

In partnership with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano counties and our generous community donors, the Bay Area Crisis Nursery provides non-perishable and fresh food.

Too many children and families live with food insecurity in our community. Approximately 1 out of every 6 people in Contra Costa and in California are food insecure. These individuals or families struggle to find their next meal. Parenting is stressful. Imagine being a parent who is worried about how to feed their children or how they will pay for their next can of formula. Parents and children shouldn’t have to suffer hunger. That’s why we are fighting to end hunger in our community with the Food Pantry.

Food insecurity leads to stress, anxiety, poor health outcomes, and an inability for adults and children to concentrate in school and at work. Providing the most essential basic need of food to children and families is essential in fighting the effects of poverty.

The Food Pantry is open daily for pickups. If you are a parent in need of food, please call the Nursery to order a food pickup.
